Kazakhstan to start vaccination with domestic vaccine against COVID-19 on Apr 26

NUR-SULTAN (TCA) — Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Yeraly Tugzhanov on April 22 attended the release of the first batch of the Kazakh vaccine QazVac (QazCovid-in), produced at the Scientific Research Institute for Biosafety Problems, and inspected the construction progress of a biopharmaceutical plant in the village of Gvardeisky, Kordai district, Zhambyl region, south Kazakhstan, Kazakh Invest national investment promotion company reported.

“The creation of a Kazakh vaccine allowed our country to enter the top five countries in the world that have developed their own vaccines against coronavirus infection. This is not only a matter of public health, it is also evidence of the potential of domestic science and the practical application of modern technologies in biopharmaceuticals, the reputation of the state,” said Tugzhanov.

The first 50 thousand doses of the QazVac vaccine will be delivered to the warehouses of health departments in all regions of the country.

On April 26, vaccination of the population with the QazVac vaccine will begin. In May, it is planned to release the next batch in the amount of 50 thousand doses. Further, the production of the vaccine will be gradually increased to 500-600 thousand doses per month.

The domestic vaccine is included in the register of the World Health Organization. Its complete safety has been proven, the vaccine forms a strong immunity against coronavirus infection. The advantage of an inactivated vaccine is that it does not cause vaccine-associated diseases. In addition, the methods of delivery of the QazVac vaccine do not require complex refrigeration units, they are transported in a refrigerator at a temperature of plus 2-8 degrees Celsius.
